My Story

Life is often described as an unpredictable journey comprised of chapters that unveil themselves along the way. My opening chapter began in Chicago, where I grew to love writing with the help of some remarkable teachers. Following high school, I embarked on a four-year adventure to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, during which time I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences Communication along with certificates in Technical Communication and Business. I now find myself back home in Chicago at Walker Sands Communications, an award-winning B2B PR agency that has given me the opportunity to sharpen my writing skills as a Content Intern since my graduation in May 2015.
Moving forward, I am eager to use my skills and experiences to make an immediate impact at an organization in the fields of digital and content marketing. Visit the "My Work" section below and click on each image for a short description of my responsibilities in each of my previous roles. What I Can Do For You

Create valuable content that establishes your company as an industry thought-leader.

PPC Management

Drive traffic to your website that increases conversions and brand awareness.

Google Analytics

Optimize your digital marketing efforts using concrete data.

Social Media Strategy

Engage your target audience across the most important social media platforms.

Content Intern (May 2015-Present)

I write contributed articles, blog posts, and press releases for B2B clients, including GrubHub, Newark element14, and ThreatMetrix. I move between multiples pieces of content daily, quickly adapting to each client's specific voice to ensure brand consistency. In addition to using my time management skills to meet tight deadlines, I analyze survey results and data reports to identify compelling storylines for clients.

Marketing Copywriter Intern (June 2014-May 2015)

I drafted and edited marketing material, such as view books, admissions guides, and advertisements, designed to recruit potential students and maintain brand consistency across all academic programs and centers within the Wisconsin School of Business. My main project consisted of drafting, writing, and revising the 22-page Wisconsin School of Business style guide, which underwent several rounds of edits in order to ensure the clear communication of brand specific guidelines to all employees within the Wisconsin School of Business.

Online Presence Management Intern (June 2014-August 2014)

At Working Capital for Community Needs I managed seven Google AdWords campaigns, increasing website traffic by 34%. Additionally, I created landing pages for each specific campaign that provided the target market with unique content directly related to search and display ads. I also formulated and carried out social media strategy for a variety of platforms including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, and Tumblr.

Technical Writer Intern (June 2013-August 2013)

My main project consisted of converting the printed version of the employee handbook into an interactive, online PDF accessible from any computer with an internet connection. The 39-page handbook was created using InDesign CS5 and it featured a responsive table of contents section that when clicked on, could take a user to any specific section in the handbook. I also gained experience launching new products by creating product specification sheets for more than 40 new products.

Writer (September 2012-May 2015)

As a writer for the Wisconsin Engineer Magazine I drafted and edited two stories per semester. This involved researching my selected topic in addition to conducting several interviews intended to provide the audience with a wide range of perspectives on the topic. I then worked closely with editors of the magazine to improve the article through four rounds of edits.

Bachelor of Science Degree: Life Sciences Communication

I have complemented my Bachelor of Science degree in Life Sciences Communication with certificates in Technical Communication and Business. The 24-credit Technical Communication Certificate enabled me to explore the field of technical writing through courses covering technical communication, technical editing, and technical information resources. The certificate concluded with a presentation of my 21-page technical report (click on the "Portfolio" section below to view the report), the creation of which developed and strengthened my research and technical writing skills.

Through courses in corporate finance, accounting, and marketing, my Certificate in Business equipped me with fundamental knowledge of all parts of a business, thereby improving my ability to collaborate with all co-workers, regardless of their role in a company or organization.
